Market Street events adjusted for weather

OSAGE CITY—The Osage City Chamber’s Christmas on Market event has announced a few changes because of this weekend’s weather.

“We are a go for the most part for tomorrow,” said Chandra Dunbar, chamber president. “We have adjusted some things due to the weather.”

The fly-in at Osage City Airport has been cancelled due to travel concerns. Santa will now have a police and fire department escort to the library at 1:15 p.m. today for story time.

The emergency services showcase has also been cancelled. The living nativity was cancelled at a previous date.

The Jingle Bell 5K has been rescheduled to next Saturday, Dec. 5.

“Same time and place, just different day,” Dunbar said. “Everything else is a go.”

Other events are set to continue as planned, including business poker run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at participating businesses, the craft show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the story time with Santa at the high school gymnasium, chili cook off at turn in between 3:40 and 4:30 p.m. at the senior center, and the raffle drawing at 4:45 p.m. at the senior center.

“So overall, we are in good shape,” Dunbar said. “Dress warm and enjoy your day at the events.”

UPDATE: Several Christmas on Market events took place this afternoon, however, the threat of additional freezing rain has prompted organizers to postpone the parade.
