Mission Covenant Church razed

Demolition of the Mission Covenant Church at Lakin and Topeka streets in Osage City was carried out quickly around 6 p.m. Monday evening. Brian Davison, of Osage Salvage, razed the building with a bulldozer in about half an hour.

The building housed the Osage City Mission Covenant Church for over 100 years.

The church was one of two, Community Covenant Church being the other, founded in the early 1870s by Rev. C.P. Melgren, grandfather of Homer Melgren and a great-grandfather of Steve Melgren, both of Osage City.
