BURLINGAME — Travis Jay Johnson, Burlingame, died April 27, 2017. He was 38.

He was born on June 4, 1978, at Topeka, the son of Jerry Johnson and Tammy Palmer. He spent many years in the Osage County area growing up.

He married Christina Bacon in 1996. They divorced in 2016. From this marriage, he had two children, Kendall and Haley.

Terri Lynn Jackson

Died – April 25, 2017

SCRANTON — Terri Lynn Jackson died April 25, 2017, at Scranton.

She is survived by her two daughters, grandchildren, brother and sister and other family. She will be loved and missed by all.

A short service will be 2 p.m. May 4 at Cross Roads Church, Scranton.

Duane Young

April 7, 1929 – April 30, 2017

WAVERLY — Duane Young, Melvern, died April 30, 2017, at Sunset Manor, Waverly. He was 88.

He was born April 7, 1929, on the family farm southeast of Melvern, the son of Vincent and Agnes Andre Young. He lived all of his life near Melvern and graduated from Melvern High School in 1947.

He was a farmer and stockman all of his life. He also worked at Osage Products for a time and was a field assistant for ASCS in Lyndon. He was a member of the Melvern United Methodist Church.

Margaret Lucille Regenold Morehead

Aug. 2, 1921 – April 25, 2017

OSAGE CITY — Margaret Lucille Regenold Morehead, a life long resident of Osage County, died April 25, 2017, at Vintage Park, Osage City. She was 95.

She was born Aug. 2, 1921, in Osage County, the daughter of William M. and Eva Harrison Regenold. She graduated from Osage City High School in 1939 and attended business school in Topeka.

She married Winston W. Morehead Feb. 24, 1945, in Osage County. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1999.

She was a housewife and homemaker.

John Douglas Fletcher

June 9, 1929 – April 25, 2017

OSAGE CITY — John Douglas Fletcher, Osage City, died April 25, 2017, at his home in Osage City. He was 87.

He was born June 9, 1929, at Kirksville, Mo., the son of John Dee and Rose Frances White Fletcher. He graduated high school in 1948, at Independence.

He married Alice Marie Meyer on Jan. 12, 1958, at Independence. She survives of the home.

Linda K. Kurtz

Sept. 28, 1947 – April 21, 2017

MESA, Ariz. — Linda K. Kurtz, formerly of Burlingame and Scranton, died April 21, 2017, at Mesa, Ariz. She was 69.

She was born Sept. 28, 1947, at Topeka.

She married Bob Kurtz July 2, 1973 at Burlingame. He preceded her in death.

She worked at many jobs over the years but her love was owning and running her various antique stores over the years.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Della Pennington; and a brother, Terry Pennington.

Steven Ray Kolbaba

May 24, 1955 – April 14, 2017

TOPEKA — Steven Ray Kolbaba, Osage City, died April 14, 2017, at St. Francis Health Center, Topeka. He was 61.

He was born May 24, 1955, at Emporia, the son of John Henry and Juanita M. Hogan Kolbaba.

He was a truck driver for many years. He drove for Tommy Whalen, Shears, Blacktop and for his father, J&J Hauling, until he bought his own business. He was able to do about anything he put his mind too.

He married LaRae Eller. They divorced. He married Terri Bruce. They latter divorced.

Joye May

Oct. 22, 1933 – April 13, 2017

VASSAR — Joye May died April 13, 2017, at her home near Vassar. She was 83.

She was born Oct. 22, 1933, at Dourghtay, Okla., the daughter of Thaddeus and Jessie Wilkens Gardenhire.

She lived in Topeka and on Lake Pomona near Vassar for the last 42 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Vassar United Methodist Church.

She married Gentry May, July 27, 1957, at Hugoton. He survives of the home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thaddeus and Jessie; and a sister, Jean Crabtree.

Brooke R. Kendall

Oct. 8, 1945 – March 29, 2017

OSAGE CITY — Brooke R. Kendall, Osage City, died March 29, 2017. He was 71.

He was born Oct 8, 1945, at Kansas City, Mo., the son of Rev. Robert B. and Marian L. Kendall.

He graduated from Baker University and served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the aircraft carrier USS KittyHawk.

Price Wilson Speece

March 1, 1946 – April 3, 2017

TOPEKA — Price Wilson Speece, Reading, died April 3, 2017, at St. Francis Health Center, Topeka. He was 71.

He was born March 1, 1946, in Lyon County, the son of Wilson Speece and Helen Jane Christesen. He graduated from the University of Kansas.

He was a member of the U.S. Army. He served with the 101st Airborne. He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Marsha Speece Small.
