Daisy Lucille Kunkel Schneider

May 14, 1917 – May 11, 2017

OSAGE CITY — Daisy Lucille Kunkel Schneider, Lyndon, died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City. She was 99.

She was born May 14, 1917, at Scranton, the daughter of Otto and Elizabeth Harrison Kunkel. She grew up in Scranton, and lived on a farm near Lyndon and then in Lyndon since 1971.

She was a homemaker and worked as an aide at Hilltop Nursing Home, Lyndon. She was a member of the Vassar United Methodist Church.

Faye Aleen Provost

Nov. 15, 1943 – May 11, 2017

AUBURN — Faye Aleen Provost, Burlingame, passed away peacefully May 11, 2017, at Homestead of Auburn with her family and loved ones by her side. She was 73.

She was born on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1943, at Burlingame. She attended school in Burlingame, graduating from Burlingame High School in 1961.

During her school years, she made many lifelong friends that she treasured deeply. She went on to attend Clark’s Business School, Topeka, and subsequently began a career as a legal secretary.

Steven Ray Ferris

Dec. 18, 1959 – May 10, 2017

SCRANTON — Steven Ray Ferris, Scranton, left this world, May 10, 2017, after a strong battle with cancer. He was 57.

He was born Dec. 19, 1959, at Topeka, the son of Eldon and Mary Ferris. He attended Scranton Grade School and went on to be a master electrician.

James F. Henry Sr.

Sept. 16, 1927 – May 6, 2017

OSAGE CITY — James F. Henry Sr., Osage City, died May 6, 2017, in an Osage City nursing facility. He was 89.

He was born Sept. 16, 1927, at Centerville, Penn., the son of Vern and Minnie Barbour Henery. He enlisted in the Merchant Marines in 1945, and later was drafted into the Army where he served from 1945 until 1947. He joined the Air Force in 1951, where he served in Korea, and was discharged in 1959.

Marilyn Miller

Aug. 16, 1935 – May 4, 2017

OTTAWA — Marilyn Miller, Pomona, died May 4, 2017, at Ottawa Retirement Village, Ottawa. She was 81.

She was born Aug. 16, 1935, at Garnett, the daughter of Hubert “Slim” Feuerborn and Maude Bowman. She grew up in Garnett, and lived in Ottawa, Vassar and Pomona.

Ralph M. Hamilton

Jun 22, 1928 – May 2, 2017

GARNETT — Ralph M. Hamilton, formerly of Pomona, died May 2, 2017, at Anderson County Hospital Residential Living Center, Garnett. He was 88.

He was born June 22, 1928, at Vassar, the son of Milt and Bertha Wadsworth Hamilton. He was a lifelong Osage and Franklin county resident.

He graduated from Michigan Valley High School with the class of 1946. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.

He married Della Louise Garber March 19, 1952, near Centropolis. She preceded him in death on March 26, 2013.

Signal Garry Douglas

May 16, 1940 – May 2, 2017

AUBURN — Signal Garry Douglas, Auburn, formerly of Burlingame, died May 2, 2017, at Homestead of Auburn. He was 76.

He was born May 16, 1940, at Bucklin, Mo., the son of Archie and Opal Rusher Douglas. He graduated from Topeka High in 1959.

He was a meat cutter for Suttons and Falleys for over 42 years. He loved smoking meats, BBQ, as well as decorating cakes.

He married Judith Ann Douglas Feb. 27, 1960, at Topeka. She preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 2008.

Travis Jay Johnson

June 4, 1978 – April 27, 2017

BURLINGAME — Travis Jay Johnson, Burlingame, died April 27, 2017. He was 38.

He was born on June 4, 1978, at Topeka, the son of Jerry Johnson and Tammy Palmer. He spent many years in the Osage County area growing up.

He married Christina Bacon in 1996. They divorced in 2016. From this marriage, he had two children, Kendall and Haley.

Terri Lynn Jackson

Died – April 25, 2017

SCRANTON — Terri Lynn Jackson died April 25, 2017, at Scranton.

She is survived by her two daughters, grandchildren, brother and sister and other family. She will be loved and missed by all.

A short service will be 2 p.m. May 4 at Cross Roads Church, Scranton.

Duane Young

April 7, 1929 – April 30, 2017

WAVERLY — Duane Young, Melvern, died April 30, 2017, at Sunset Manor, Waverly. He was 88.

He was born April 7, 1929, on the family farm southeast of Melvern, the son of Vincent and Agnes Andre Young. He lived all of his life near Melvern and graduated from Melvern High School in 1947.

He was a farmer and stockman all of his life. He also worked at Osage Products for a time and was a field assistant for ASCS in Lyndon. He was a member of the Melvern United Methodist Church.
