Rosemary Kay Atwood

OSAGE CITY — Rosemary Kay Atwood, Osage City, passed away peacefully Sept. 30, 2018, at French House, a group home, in Osage City. She was 52.

She was born Aug. 31, 1966, at Topeka, the daughter of Ralph Edward and Nadine Bisel Atwood. She graduated from Topeka High School. She was cared for by a group home, French House, sponsored by COF Training Services.

Survivors include her mother, Nadine Atwood, Topeka; a brother, Ralph Vernon Atwood, Auburn; a sister, Viola Serrano, and husband, Ralph, Topeka; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Peggy Lou Riggin

Oct. 3, 1929 – Sept. 26, 2018

OVERBROOK — Peggy Lou Riggin died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. She was 88.

She was born Oct. 3, 1929, at Topeka, the daughter of LeeRoy and Fern Prater Denton. She grew up in Burlingame and went attended school there.

She married Dwain Saffle July 4, 1945. They had five children and lived most of their married life in Wichita. They were later divorced. She married Jack Riggin. Their marriage was brief.

Birgitta Maria Meisner

Aug. 18, 1943 – Sept. 26, 2018

ADMIRE — Birgitta Maria Meisner died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at her home in Admire. She was 75.

She was born Aug. 18,1943, at Orebro, Sweden, the daughter of Sven and Margit Zaring. She graduated high school and received a degree in accounting in Sweden.

She came to the United States in 1965 to be a nanny. She married George L. Meisner Aug. 30, 1966, at New London, Connect. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1992.

Theta Elizabeth Vorse

May 9, 1927 – Sept. 20, 2018

TOPEKA — Theta Elizabeth Vorse, Topeka, died the evening of Sept. 20, 2018, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was 91.

She was born May 9, 1927, on the family farm in Harveyville, the daughter of Edd and Annie Davis. She attended Harveyville High School and after graduation attended Clark's Business College.

She held several jobs including Santa Fe Railway, Sunny Elevation School and Wilson's Turkey Farm where she worked for 37 years.

Donna Sue Ladewig

Nov. 11, 1954 – Sept. 22, 2018

HUTCHINSON — Donna Sue Ladewig died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Hospice House. She was 63.

She was born Nov. 11, 1954, at Emporia, the daughter of Dean and Martha Pickering Kuykendall. She graduated from Osage City High School and Emporia State University. She worked as a receptionist at Via Christi Hutchinson Rehabilitation and then as a billing/coding specialist for Hutchinson Clinic.

She married Robert C. Ladewig Jr., May 20, 1978, at Osage City. He survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Kathryn Ann Woodbury

May 6, 1935 – Sept. 19, 2018

OVERBROOK — Kathryn Ann “Kay” Woodbury, Quenemo, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at Fields of Brookside, Overbrook. She was 83.

She was born May 6, 1935, at Emporia, the daughter of J. Manuel and Marie White Hughes. She grew up in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School in 1953. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Emporia State University in 1957 and was a teacher of English and foreign languages in Wichita and Osage City. She received her master’s degree from Emporia State University in 1962.
