WICHITA — Anna Marie Knudsen Parker died April 6, 2018. She was 82.

She was born Jan. 7, 1936, the daughter of Victor and Lucy Knudsen, Osborne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; and a son, Clinton Bruce Parker.

Richard C. Peterson

Nov. 24, 1946 - April 4, 2018

EL PASO, Texas - Richard C. Peterson passed away peacefully April 4, 2018, at an El Paso, Texas hospital. He was71.

He was born Nov. 24, 1946, at Topeka, the son of Johnny and Margarette McFadden Peterson. He grew up on a farm in Burlingame, where he was a Boy Scout. He graduated in 1964, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves at Osage City.

He was a heavy equipment operator for many years and was currently self-employed in wire fabrication.

Ethel Ruth Watson

Sept. 15, 1917 – April 6, 2018

OSAGE CITY — Ethel Ruth Jackson Watson died Friday, April 6, 2018, at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City. She was 100.

She was born Sept. 15, 1917, at Emporia, the daughter of Lee and Ethel Jacob Jackson. She graduated from Reading High School.

She married Robert O. Watson March 24, 1940, at Osage City. He preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1980.

She was a life long homemaker and mother.

Car show cancelled

Twin Lakes Cruisers cancel Saturday car show

It is with great disappointment that the Twin Lakes Cruisers will be canceling Saturday’s car show. After watching the weather all week, the organization met and decided, due to the weather forecast it was not worth the risk of other car enthusiasts coming to the show.

The organization also felt that it would no be a good turnout anyway due to the weather forecast of snow and sleet that is being predicting. The Cruisn n' Cook'n show has officially been cancelled.

Opal Louise Patton

Nov. 27, 1929 – March 29, 2018

OSAGE CITY — Opal Louise Head Patton died Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Vintage Park, Osage City. She was 88.

She was born Nov. 27, 1929, at home on a farm in rural Paxico, the daughter of Glen Bryan and Sara Augusta Ida Buchmeier Head.

She attended one-room rural schools near Wamego and Tulsa and Inola, Okla. She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1947.

Virginia Lee Sand

Jan. 22, 1936 – Match 29, 2018

OVERBROOK — Virginia “Ginny” Lee Sand died Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbook. She was 82.

She was born Jan. 22, 1936, at Topeka, the daughter of Andrew and Hazel Coker Forbes. She lived most of her life on her family farm between the Lyndon and Overbrook communities.

After graduating from Lyndon High School in 1954, she attended Kansas State University to study elementary education. While there she met Gerald “Jerry” Sand.

Zele Templeton

Died – March 24, 2018

VASSAR — Zele Templeton died unexpectedly at her home Saturday, March 24, 2018.

She was born in Buda, Texas, and lived in rural Manchacca, Texas, most of her early life. She was active in 4-H and was an avid horseman. She graduated in 1974 from Crockett High School, Austin, Texas.

She married Glenn Templeton Aug. 19, 1978, at her home in Manchacca, Texas. They relocated several times and settled in 1997 at Vassar.

William Priebe

Died March 26, 2018

OSAGE CITY — William "Bill" Priebe Jr. died Monday, March 26, 2018 at his home in Osage City. He was 97.

He was born at Vassar, the son of William and Minnie Ebel Priebe Sr. He was a life-long resident of Osage County, with the exception of his time in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He married Audrey Bowman Jan. 10, 1942, at Vassar. She preceded him in death.

Bill and Audrey were owners of Priebe Grocery and Locker Plant in Vassar for over 30 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Vassar.
