Willene Charlotte Cole

Feb. 9, 1930 – Dec. 10, 2018

EMPORIA — Willene Charlotte Cole, Emporia, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at her home. She was 88.

She was born Feb. 9, 1930, at Oneida, the daughter of William and Anna Marie Keck Ackerman. Dedicated to the education of children, she began teaching at the age of 17 and received her master’s in education from Emporia State University.

Harold W. Scheetz

Dec. 21, 1930 – Dec. 11, 2018

OSAGE CITY — Harold W. Scheetz, Osage City, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at an Osage City nursing home. He was 87.

He was born Dec. 21, 1930, at Topeka, the son of George and Hettie Michael Scheetz. He grew up and lived on the family farm in rural Burlingame, where he farmed most of his life. He was baptized Jan. 5, 1953, as a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He married Beverly J. Priddy June 12, 1965. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Scheetz Jr.; and a sister, Mary Jane Rowley.

Boil Water Advisory Issued by KDHE for portions of Overbrook

TOPEKA – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a boil water advisory for portions of the City of Overbrook located in Osage County. The boil water advisory will affect the following two areas of town:

All customers on Elm Street south of Market Street. This will also affect customers on 2nd Street one block west of Elm Street.

All customers east of Maple Street between Highway 56 and 5th Street. This also includes customers along Highway 56 east of Maple Street to the city lake (including Casey’s General Store and Grace Community Church).

Kenneth Adam Harred

Dec. 13, 1965 ¬– Nov. 26, 2018

KANSAS CITY — Kenneth Adam Harred died Nov. 26, 2018, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, surrounded by his children. He was 52.

He was born Dec. 13, 1965, at Topeka. He dedicated over 20 years to the National Guard, both as a reservist and later full-time. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, creating duck/goose calls, hand-carved decoys and leather working.

He was preceded in death by his mother, June.

Mary June Hutchison Thompson

June 7, 1932 – Dec. 7, 2018

TOPEKA — Mary June Hutchison Thompson, Osage City, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was 86.

She was born June 7, 1932, at Scranton, the daughter of Charles M. and Anna Sheall Hutchison. She graduated from Scranton High School with class of 1950.

She married Clinton “Clint” Lee Thompson Aug. 21, 1950, at Scranton. He preceded her in death.

Golden McGinnis

Oct. 13, 1922 – Dec. 6, 2018

OVERBROOK — Golden McGinnis, Overbrook, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. He was 96.

He was born Oct. 13, 1922, at Ray County, Mo., the son of Ramie and Nell Smart McGinnis.

He married Ruth Marie Mann Jan. 17, 1946, at Omaha, Neb. They shared over 70 years of marriage.

They moved to a farm in 1957, in rural Carbondale area, Osage County . They later moved to Overbrook, in 2000.

Ray Francis Dunn

April 16, 1938 – Dec. 7, 2018

OMAHA, Neb. — Ray Francis Dunn, Carrizozo, N.M., died Friday, Dec. 7, 201, at his nephews' home at Omaha, Neb. He was 80.

He was born April 16, 1938, at Burlingame, the son of Guilliam and Esther Elizabeth Hoggins Dunn. He graduated from Burlingame High School in 1956. After graduation, he served for two years in the U.S. Army.

John Alex Earhart

1929 – Dec. 5, 2018

OSAGE CITY — John Alex Earhart passed into heaven Dec. 5, 2018, to meet with family and friends at the rainbow bridge. He was 89.
