LYNDON—A strong primary voter turnout saw Osage County’s incumbent Kansas House representative loose his seat Tuesday evening.

The county had 2,553 of its 10,368 voters (24.6 percent) turnout for a handful of challenged party races.

Two-term representative Willie Prescott, Osage City, earned just 20 percent of the vote in the 76th district, as eight-term representative Peggy Mast, Emporia, won the Republican nod with 47 percent of the vote. Four-term representative Bill Otto, LeRoy, also lost a seat with 33 percent of the vote. Mast will face Democrat Janet Lewis, Lebo, in the Nov. 6 general election.

Democrate Caleb Correll will face Republican Blaine Finch for the 59th District seat; Republican Ken Corbet won his primary to face unchallenged incumbent Democrat Ann Mah in the 54th District.
Gaylord Anderson, Carbondale, defeated James Foster and Mark Van Camp to earn the unchallenged Republican seat in the Osage County Commission Second District. Ken Kuylendall, Osage City, was unchallenged in the third district.

Winners (in bold) advance to the general election Nov. 6. All results are unofficial.
